Right – Delivering Brigid from Nanaimo, where we brought her to the Yard in Shearwater to start her rebuild, it’s January and sub-zero!
A Word From The Author
Born in England in the 1950s and a ’60s child, I was privileged with a childhood full of freedom and endless possibilities. I developed a love of the outdoors from a very early age and have a passion for all forms of human-powered travel. Over the years I have climbed some of the highest peaks in Europe, been down some of the deepest and hardest caves, cycled thousands of miles, and hiked many long-distance footpaths. My sailing career started in dinghies while still at school and then owning and sailing classic wooden yachts. I have taught sailing, worked as a delivery skipper and sailed the European coast from Spain to Holland and all around the UK and Ireland.
I moved to Canada in 2010. I am now restoring Brigit to explore the West Coast of Canada.
I would like to acknowledge the territories of all the First Nations along the West Coast, and to thank them for allowing me to explore their lands. Also for the support and welcome I have received from so many.
